The 10th Annual March into Reading 2013

Imagine That –  A Novel Idea!

Friday, March 1 & Saturday, March 2

An ACE hallmark initiative, March into Reading promotes reading as a community value. March into Reading supplies schools with quality children’s books and engages students in more than 25 ACE preschools, elementary and middle schools in common reading. In addition, teachers and librarians in classrooms and school libraries throughout Aquidneck Island guide students in author and book studies of March into Reading’s featured authors and illustrators. The program culminates in a two-day, island-wide celebration of children’s books. Authors and illustrators visit schools on a Friday to read books, demonstrate how books are illustrated and talk with children about their love of reading and writing.

The following day, the festivities continue at Salve Regina with author and illustrator presentations, book sales and signings, special exhibits, and the very popular discovery rooms designed by Salve Regina’s education majors. The festival nurtures families’ engagement in their children’s learning by giving children the opportunity to introduce their parents to the authors and books they have studied in school.
